The efforts of Western Cape police are turning up the heat on criminals in the Province with several significant successes over the weekend of 6 September 2020. In the Nyanga cluster six illegal firearms with ammunition were seized in various operations. The arrests were as follows:

A 22-year-old was arrested in Elsies River for possession of a prohibited firearm.
Nyanga police arrested a 45-year-old suspect for possession of a prohibited firearm. Also in Nyanga a 30-year-old man was arrested an imitation firearm.
Manenberg police recovered a prohibited firearm that was dropped by a suspect fleeing from the police.
Philippi East police apprehended a 20-year-old suspect who had a prohibited firearm on him.
During a search and seizure in the Eyadini informal settlement, Samora Machel members of the Provincial Integrated Operational Team arrested a 29-yea- old suspect for a prohibited firearm with ammunition.

Pursuing vital information, the Provincial Integrated team descended on a house in Bettys Bay and discovered a dagga cultivating facility on Saturday afternoon 5 September 2020. The team seized the following:

166 X dagga plants, 134 X dried dagga branches and various equipment used for dagga cultivation and drying (worth R100 000). The total value is estimated at R417 000. A woman and a man aged 29 and 37 respectively were arrested for cultivation and dealing in dagga.

Provincial organised crime detectives are investigating.

Meanwhile members from the Worcester crime prevention and K9 units executed a search warrant and seized the following in Zweletemba on Saturday afternoon 5 September 2020:

2968 X mandrax tablets
25 X half mandrax tablets
43 X quarter mandrax tablets
124 X tik straws
2 X bags of tik
10 X stoppe dagga
2X dagga parcels
Mandrax powder
Cash to the amount of R12 440

A 38-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.

Thousands of litres of liquor were sized in various operations conducted throughout the province.
