The Western Cape police have reaffirmed their commitment to combating the illegal distribution of firearms, a critical threat to public safety.
In a decisive operation on Monday evening, 16 June 2025, officers from the Ocean View SAPS acted on intelligence regarding an illegal firearm stored at a residence on Dlavuza Road, Masiphumelele, Ocean View.
Upon searching the premises in the suspect’s presence, authorities uncovered a firearm with its serial number filed off, along with a round of ammunition, concealed inside a wardrobe. The 43-year-old suspect was promptly arrested for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
He is set to appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrates’ Court today, 17 June 2025, to face the charges.
