Enhanced police visibility in and around our townships in the Western Cape with the strategic deployment of Operation Restore personnel continues to yield success with police confiscating a substantial quantity of drugs as well as firearms which threatens the general safety of our inhabitants.

On Monday, 20 March 2023 at about 17:10 members attached to Operation Restore operationalised information received and pounced on a residence in Santer Street, Summerville in Harare where they ensued with a search of the premises.

During the search, members found and confiscated 9 bags containing compressed dagga with a weight of more than 9kg. As a result they arrested a 41-year-old Tanzanian national who face charges relating to dealing in drugs as well as contravention of the Immigration Act.

Simultaneously, a group of members pounced on a residence in Wariektree Street situated in Rosedale, Delft where they acted on information and searched the premises.

They arrested a 25-year-old man who was found to be in possession of a 9mm Clock pistol with 2 magazines and a total of 34x9mm rounds of ammunition. The find was confiscated and the suspect detained.

The suspect faces charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and also faces a charge of interference with police officials whilst performing official duties.

These suspects are scheduled to make their respective court appearances, once charged.

Provincial management has lauded the members for their persistence and vigilance to rid our communities from illicit drugs and firearms.
