Godfrey Malungu (28), and Chadrick Farao (34), have appeared at the Vredenburg Magistrates Court yesterday, 11 September 2018, on charges of fraud and Corruption related to vehicles licencing scam on.

The pair were arrested on Monday, 10 September 2018, after investigation by the Hawk’ Serious Corruption Investigation Unit together with the Department of Transport and Public works linked them to a syndicate implicated in processing fraudulent vehicle roadworthy certificates.

These vehicles were reportedly exempted from being physically tested in exchange of bribes.

Malungu and Farao allegedly recruited clients from their respective communities in Piketberg and Porterville.

The accused were each released on R2000 bail. The case against the duo was postponed to 18 October 2018, where they are expected to appear alongside four of their alleged accomplices that were arrested last month.
