Vehicle robbed during violent attack in Gauteng, recovered in Albertinia

On Wednesday, 15 March 2023 at about 15:00 members attached to the Albertinia police conducted vehicle patrols when they responded to information from farm watch members about a vehicle which left a petrol filling station at Groot Brakrivier without paying for petrol purchased.

The members operationalised the information and spotted the vehicle, a red Alpha Romeo parked near a farm in the vicinity of Albertinia.

On arrival the police ensued with a search and found a small quantity of tik as well as vehicle registration plates of another vehicle inside.

Preliminary investigation on scene revealed that the vehicle was reported as stolen in Gauteng recently during a violent attack.

Both occupants were subsequently arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property, possession of drugs, fraud and theft.

The duo, aged 30 and 35, remain in police custody. They are expected to make their first court appearance in the Still Bay Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 17 March 2023 on mentioned charges.

More charges could be added as the investigation into the matter unfolds.
