Vehicle hijacked in Mowbray recovered in Nyanga, 2 arrested

The vigilance of police members whilst on duty resulted in the recovery of a hijacked vehicle in Nyanga on Saturday, 17 June 2023.

The police deployed in Nyanga to conduct high density patrols received information that a white Etios, hijacked in Mowbray, was possibly driven to Nyanga by three unknown males.

Whilst performing their duties near to Gqoloma Street they noticed the motor vehicle that fitted the description.

The driver of the motor vehicle changed direction with police members in pursuit.

The police members forced the driver to stop and the suspects fled in different direction.

The police members gave chase and apprehended two suspects.

They arrested and detained the two suspects on a charge of possession of a hijacked vehicle.

Once charged the duo are expected to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charge.
