Unlicensed firearms and dagga recovered, Mitchells Plain

On 29 October 2019, at about 12:15 members attached to the Mitchells Plain Crime Prevention Unit were busy with crime prevention patrols in Town Centre when they received information from community members that a large quantity of dagga was being stored at a shop selling plastic containers in Rondo Lane, Town Centre.

Upon the members arrival at the store they searched the premises and they found 2 large plastic bags filled with 1.3 kg of compressed dagga hidden inside the ceiling. The dagga has an estimated street value of R 10 000,00. The suspect, a 24 year old man was arrested.

In an unrelated incident our members arrested a 61 year old man in White Hall Street, Portland for possession on unlicensed firearms and ammunition. At about 17:20, the members received an anonymous tip-off that firearms were being stored at the house.

During the search the members found 2 pistols a CZ 75 and a Glock with 28 rounds of ammunition inside a bedroom.

Both suspects will appeared soon in Mitchells Plain Magistrate Court on charges relating the possession of possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and possession of dagga.
