4 January 2020, alert members of the Flying Squad acted upon on information about a prohibited firearm at a premises in Heathfield. Upon conducting a search at the premises the members found a 9mm pistol and as well 25g of Tik at the mentioned address.
A 41 year old man was arrested and detained, and he is expected to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 January 2020 for possession of prohibited firearm with ammunition and possession of drugs.
In an unrelated occurrence members attached to Steenberg SAPS conducted stop and search operations in the area on Saturday, 4 January 2020 at about 22:30. The vigilant members spotted a suspicious man, approached him, and upon conducting a body search, the members found a .38 special Smith and Wesson revolver firearm in his possession.
The suspect aged 25 was arrested and he is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 January 2020 for possession of unlicensed firearm with ammunition.
