Two taxi drivers killed, 9 injured, Libalele taxi rank, Langa

The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on the morning of 22 February 2018, at around 08:13 at the Libalele taxi rank in Langa are under investigation, following the death of two taxi drivers.

During the incident, which we believe is related to taxi routes, nine people between the ages of 15 and 45 were also injured and admitted to hospital for treatment. The suspects responsible for the murders and attempted murders have fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile the Western Cape SAPS management has established a Provincial Taxi Task Team that will take over the investigation.

In addition, police visibility has been enhanced at identified taxi hubs in the province.
