Two men arrested after shooting incident in Bonteheuwel

The vigilance and swift response by members of Bishop Lavis Crime Prevention Unit, National POPS and Metro Police led to the arrest of two suspects today at Honey Circle, Bonteheuwel.

On Thursday 4 October 2018, at about 15:00, members were dispatched to a shooting incident at Honey Circle, Bonteheuwel. As they approached the area, members saw the two suspects firing shots randomly. When these suspects saw SAPS they tried to evade arrest. Members cornered the one suspect and arrested a 24 year old man with a 9mm pistol, magazine with eight live rounds of ammunition still in his possession.

The arrest of this 24 year old suspect led to the arrest of another 25 year old suspect with 12 live 9mm rounds and three 303 high powered live calibre rifle rounds.

The 24 year old suspect will be charged with murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and the 25 year old for the possession of ammunition.

Both arrested suspects are due to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court once charged.

The actions of the police members ensured that yet another illegal firearm and ammunition were removed from the streets.
