Eager to ensure the safety of their community, members attached to Steenberg SAPS arrested two suspects for the possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition this morning, 10 August 2018, after they heard shots being fired while busy with patrols in St Montague village.

With the help of the local community, the members went to search for the suspects and caught them hiding in a yard in St Barnabas Street.

Both suspects were found in possession of firearms and ammunition comprising a Norinco with one magazine with four rounds and a Taurus with one magazine and eight rounds.

The two suspects aged 21 and 26 are detained for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and are due to appear in Wynberg magistrate court on these charges once they have been charged.
