On Friday Elsies River police followed up on information they received about illegal activity at Martindale Court Clarke Estate. Upon their arrival they searched the premises and found a zip gun. A 21-year-old man was arrested and once he has been charged, he will appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court where he will be facing a charge of Illegal possession of firearm.

Today a joint operation by members attached to Operation Thunder and Bishop Lavis SAPS led to the arrest of a 50-year-old man. The police acted on information they received about illegal firearms at a house in Vlaabloom, Bonteheuwel. Upon searching the house a shotgun with 24 live rounds and a 9mm pistol with 84 rounds were found. The suspect was arrested and once charged, he is expected to appear in Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the members involved for removing illegal firearms and ammunition from the communities.
