Vigilant members of Table View Police were busy with routine patrols on Thursday, 13 December 2018 in Blaauwberg Road, when at 23:00 they received information about a man selling drugs from his vehicle, which was parked at a petrol garage in Koeberg Road. A description of the vehicle was provided to the officers. They were also informed that this particular person has drugs at his residence.

The members went to the garage and found the vehicle with one occupant inside. They approached with caution and searched the vehicle. The members discovered cannabis hidden inside the glove compartment of the vehicle. The man was arrested and taken to Table View Police Station.

A search warrant was obtained for his residence to be searched.

At the residence in Wemyss Crescent, Rugby (Milnerton), members found large quantities of cannabis, sealed in vacuum packed plastic bags, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. Two men, who also reside at this premises were present during the search, and were also arrested.

The three men were taken to the police station where the cannabis was weighed. It was over 43 kg, with an estimated street value of R175 000. The men, aged in their early twenties and late thirties were charges with dealing of an illegal substance. The arrested suspects are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 18 December 2018 on the mentioned charges.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen KE Jula welcomed the arrest and expressed his gratitude to the member of the public who shared the information with the police. “Without this information, the three suspects would have carried on with their illicit activities, we appreciate the information we received from a member of our community”, he says.
