The upmarket neighborhood of Tafelsig, in Cape Town, is the place where schoolchildren buy and use drugs on the street.

The chairman of the Greater Tafelsig Action Forum, Karen Davis, reports that the drug industry thrives in the area and children publicly use drugs in clubs and on the beachfront.

The shortage of police also has resulted in home burglaries, assault and theft from vehicles every day.

Tafelsig police relationship is one per 970, with the police station being one of the most understaffed stations in the Western Cape which is managed by the DA and who apparently also are unable to change the situation.
