Ten suspects arrested for murders in Nyanga

Our investigations into murders which were perpetrated as recent as the past weekend in the Nyanga area have resulted in the arrest of ten suspects this morning.

Five suspects were arrested for the murder of a 42 year old man whose body was found on Sunday morning with several stab wounds in front of a house at Siyahlala Informal Settlement in Browns Farm.

Three suspects were apprehended for stabbing a 24 year old man to death during the early hours of Sunday in Lusaka, Nyanga. The victim was rushed to hospital but died on arrival.

This was followed by an arrest of a 24 year old suspect after he and friends allegedly shot a 21 year old man in Mesiya Informal Settlement in Samora Machel. The deceased and the suspect had a fight during the day but the suspect came back later with his friends and shot the victim.

The tenth suspect was arrested after the man he assaulted on 01 February passed away this morning. The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a dangerous weapon and he was taken to hospital and discharged. This morning he however succumbed as a result of his injuries.

All ten suspects aged between 18 and 33 are expected to appear in Athlone Magistrate Court on Thursday facing charges of murder.
