The quick response of members attached to Kleinvlei police resulted in the arrest of a suspect with an illegal firearm (revolver) in his possession at about 09:35 on Friday 26 October 2018.
The members were patrolling Hoepoe Sreet, Somerset Heights, Eersterivier when a suspicious male person drew their attention.
The man made an attempt to flee, and shot at SAPS members but he was apprehended and found to be in possession of a .357 Black Revolver with serial number intact and ammunition.
No member was injured during this incident.
The arrested 18 year old man is due to make a court appearance at the Blue Downs Magistrates Court for the illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
