Police had to use tear gas and rubber bullets to control rioters in Zwelihle near Hermanus.

Through the night, local rioters burned tyres, barricaded roads and threw stones.

More than 1,000 rioters were involved and the local clinic was forced to closed and may reopen today.

People’s logic is completely lacking when infrastructure is damaged and people are prevented from going to work and even receiving healthcare.

Meanwhile, the only library in the area has been completely destroyed after it has been burned.
