On Monday 12 November 2018,, at about 04:30, the complainant, a taxi driver, was threatened by an armed unknown male, whilst driving down Buck Road, Lotus River, Grassy Park.

The suspect demanded cash from the complainant, where after, the complainant drove to his fellow taxi drivers and they managed to overpower the suspect and retrieved the firearm. The suspect (24), the firearm with its serial number filed off, a 9mm, 11 rounds of ammunition and one magazine were handed over to SAPS Grassy Park.

The suspect will face charges of kidnapping, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed ammunition and possession of a prohibited firearm, where after he will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on related charges.
