In order to ensure that offenders are brought to book, an off duty police official reacted quickly, put himself on duty during an armed robbery and helped to arrest three armed robbers.

On 1 May 2019, at about 15:00, Table View SAPS members responded to a business robbery in progress at a retailer in Winning Way, Racing Park, Table View. The members were in contact with an off duty police constable who was inside the shop during the robbery. On arrival members found the suspects in a grey colour Toyota Corolla.

The three occupants inside the vehicle were arrested and one firearm and an imitation firearm were confiscated with an undisclosed amount of cash that was taken during the robbery. According to the witness the suspects pointed the cashiers with the firearms and took the money.

No injuries were sustained or shots fired during this incident.

The suspects aged 25, 42 and 46 respectively are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Friday 3 May 2019, on charges of armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.
