In pursuit of realizing SAPS’s mission to ensure that offenders are brought to book, Nyanga SAPS members apprehended a 34-year-old man with an unlicensed firearm following a hijacking of a delivery vehicle incident in Lusaka during the early hours of 23 June 2017.

Another suspect managed to flee and is still at large; however, the police are cooperating with all stakeholders in the community to bring him to justice.

In a separate incident, Nyanga SAPS members conducted a search during which two men aged 27 were arrested during the early hours of 23 June 2017, with an unlicensed firearm and four live rounds of ammunition at a shop in Lusaka.

All three suspects are due to make court appearances at the Athlone Magistrate’s Court next week on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The first suspect will also face a charge of hijacking.
