Suspected gang member arrested for murder, Ravensmead

The swift response by members of the Provincial Reaction Team who were deployed in the Ravensmead area on 8 January 2018, resulted in the arrest of a suspect in his twenties on a charge of murder and the possession of an unlicensed firearm.

SAPS members responded to the sound of gunshots in the area and spotted the suspect fleeing in Cassia Street. After dropping his 9mm pistol, he was arrested.

Further investigation revealed that he had shot and killed a 23 year old man minutes before. Once charged, the suspect is due to make a court appearance on charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
