Efforts by members of Grabouw police to rid their community from the scourge of the illegal drug trade yielded positive results when they arrested a 45-year-old suspect for the possession of mandrax tablets on Friday, 14 April 2023.

The members followed up on information received of a male who is in possession of drugs at a house at the Rooidakke in Grabouw. A suspect fitting the description given, was apprehended as members searched the house and confiscated 354 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R21 900.

He is due to make a court appearance in the Grabouw Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 April 2023.

In an unrelated matter, members of Lwandle SAPS arrested three suspects between the ages of 25 and 35 on a charge of housebreaking and theft on Thursday, 13 April 2023.

The members received information of a Toyota Fortuner that are involved in housebreakings in the area. The vehicle was spotted and when the members attempted to intercept the vehicle, the driver sped off. A high speed chase ensued and the vehicle was stopped in Onverwacht Road.

The vehicle was searched and housebreaking implements were found in the vehicle. The possibility that the suspects might be linked to other cases will be investigated.

The suspects will appear in the Strand Magistrate’s Court on Monday 17 April 2023, on the mentioned charge.
