Members attached to Bishop Lavis police are continuously conducting crime operations to retrieve illegal firearms in Bonteheuwel. On 9 May 2019, at about 13:00 vigilant members were conducting patrols when they noticed a suspicious male at Kirch Street, Bonteheuwel.

They approached the suspect who tried to flee on foot and apprehend him and upon further investigation they recovered an unlicensed firearm with ammunition.

The 27 year old male suspect is expected to make a court appearance at Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition.
