The Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs, Strand SAPS and Strand Neighborhood Watch arrested Patience Precious Abudu (33) for trafficking in persons.

It is alleged that on 16 December 2023, two young foreign nationals were rescued from a dwelling in George after it was determined that they were trafficked into South Africa.

On Friday, 08 March 2024, warrants of arrest were authorised for the two alleged suspects responsible for trafficking the two victims into the country.

On 14 March 2024 information was received that one of the wanted suspects is in Strand, Cape Town. The Hawks tracing team proceeded to the premises where the suspect was arrested.

She was found with two passports, various bank cards and R29 000.00 in cash.

The suspect appeared in the George Magistrates’ Court on 15 March 2024 and the matter was postponed to 19 March 2024 to determine the date for bail application. She has been remanded in custody.
