In pursuit of realizing the SAPS mission to ensure that offenders are brought to book, Strand SAPS members apprehended three suspects for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
On Wednesday 23 January 2019, Strand police were attending to a crime scene of attempted murder when they followed up on information about the whereabouts of the firearm that was allegedly used in the commission of the crime. At approximately 16:00 they went to Spray Street, Strand where they swiftly recovered a star firearm with its serial number filed off. The firearm was loaded with one round.
Three suspects, aged between 29 and 31 have been arrested.
One will be charged for possession of illegal firearm and ammunition whilst the other two will be linked to the attempted murder case that was committed earlier in the day. All three suspects are expected to make a court appearance at Strand Magistrate’s Court once charged.
This swift response by members ensured that another illegal firearm and ammunition were removed from the community.
