Committed to keeping their community safe, members of the Nyanga Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 37 year old man this morning in possession of presumably stolen property while they were conducting foot patrols in one of the station’s smash and grab hot spot areas at Borchards Quarry, Lusaka, Nyanga.
The members approached the suspect and searched him; they then recovered five cellular telephones, a watch, knife, vehicle keys, various sim cards and USB cables.
The suspect resides in Europe which is one of the informal settlements along Borchedd’s Quarry which has contributed a lot in the crime committed in the area. It is also an area where a number of arrests and confiscations were made regarding hijackings of private vehicles and delivery vehicles as well as smash and grabs.
The suspect is expected to appear in Philippi Magistrate Court this week for the possession of stolen property.
