On Friday 22 December 2017, at about 22:30 Mitchells Plain police attended a complaint of a shooting in Hartebees Street, Eastridge, Mitchells Plain.
Upon their arrival, they saw an unknown male lying in the road. The deceased had been shot in the back and passed away on the scene.
Further investigation by members led to the arrest of two male suspects aged 30 and 26. The suspects face a charge of murder. The one suspect later pointed out where the firearm was to police. Members confiscated a 9mm Luger firearm, a magazine and nine 9mm rounds.
The arrested suspects are due to appear in Mitchells Plain Magistrates’ Court.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen KE Jula commended the members and said that their actions ensured that more illegal firearms and ammunition were removed from the communities of Mitchells Plain.
