Seven people died when a house burned out in Macbeth Street in Eastridge, Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, just before 8.30am on Saturday morning, Western Cape paramedics said.

“Of the seven, five were children with two burnt beyond recognition,” Western Cape metro emergency medical services (EMS) spokesman Robert Daniels said in a statement.

“The other two deceased were adults, one male and one female. Five others adults were critically injured and rushed to Mitchells Plain District Hospital by Western Cape government health emergency medical services,” he said.
