To ensure that offenders are brought to book, police in the Milnerton Cluster made 456 arrests during the week from Monday 28 May to Sunday 03 June 2018. Crimes for which the arrests were made included contempt of court, rape, housebreaking and theft, dealing in liquor illegally, assault, theft, armed robbery, possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, common robbery, various traffic violations, and sexual assault, to mention a few.

During routine patrols in the Table View area on Friday 1 June 2018, shortly after midnight, a police officer noticed a window at a house in Dale Crescent, Table View standing wide open. The officer and his colleague went to investigate further. Upon approaching the house, they noticed a man in dark clothing, wearing gloves, hiding behind a pillar on the property. He was searched and a knife was found in his possession. He was arrested for being in possession of a dangerous weapon.

The home owner informed the officers that the windows were all closed before they went to sleep. Upon closer inspection it was determined that the window had been forced open. The 33 year old suspect was then taken to Table View Police Station for detention until his court appearance on Monday 4 June 2018. He is facing charges related to attempted housebreaking and possession of a dangerous weapon.

It is uncertain whether the intention of the suspect was only to break into the property to steal and leave, or whether he was going to threaten the family before committing a house robbery.

In another case the Crime Prevention Unit was conducting patrols in Joe Slovo, Milnerton on Friday 1 June 2018. While performing their duties they met a man with a pointing out note of a suspect on a case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) that had been committed in the month of March.

The police officers visited the address and arrested the 34 year old wanted suspect. He is due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday 4 June 2018.

Foot patrols and stop and search operations conducted in Dunoon on Friday 1 June 2018 at 23:00 led to the arrest of a 22 year old man by the Milnerton Crime Prevention Unit. It is alleged that upon searching the man members confiscated an Okapi knife that was in his possession and arrested him. The suspect will be charged for the possession of a dangerous weapon and is appearing in court on Monday 4 June 2018.
