An integrated operation held in Mitchells Plain on the night of 1 February 2019, saw the precinct saturated by Mitchell’s Plain police, the Anti Gang Unit, Tactical Response Team as well as scores of CPF, neighbourhood watch and street committee members.

The operation comprising foot patrols as well as stop and searches netted eight arrests including wanted suspects, recovery of stolen property and 164 litres of alcohol, firearms and cash amounting to R48 000 believed that be proceeds of crime.

Of the eight arrests between the ages of 64 and 23, there are two wanted suspects for theft of motor vehicle and malicious damage to property.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon. During the operation community members applauded the joint initiative that ensured fewer incidents of crime reported within the precinct.
