With Easter on our door step, members of Delft, assisted by other units, went all out to eradicate firearms from the streets of Delft.

On Wednesday, 13 April 2022, at 08:30, members of Delft arrested a 25-year-old suspect in Sipres Street, Delft South, after he was found in possession of a .38 special and one 357 round of ammunition and one home-made firearm (zip gun) made with steel pipe.

The same day, at approximately 15:30, members of POP Unit Pinetown were executing crime prevention patrols in Voorbrug when they arrested a 27-year-old suspect for the possession of home-made firearm and illegal possession of one R5 round of ammunition in Savora Street.

At 19:20, members arrested a 36-year-old suspect for dealing in liquor without a license at a house in Koringblom Street, Roosendal, Delft. The dealing in and consumption of liquor is a major contributor to crime in the Delft policing precinct.

Later, members confiscated 34 parcels of dagga and two big refuse bags containing loose dagga after it were found abandoned at a house in N2 Gateway. The members also found an air rifle abandoned at a house in Roosendal, Delft.

At approximately midnight, members of Delft executed a search warrant at a house in Sunday Court, Leiden. The search led to the arrest of a 51-year-old male for dealing in drugs. The members confiscated a consignment of drugs and cash.

On Thursday, 14 April 2022, at approximately 04:00, members of Delft arrested a 51-year-old suspect in Mina Street, Leiden, Delft, for the possession of one 9mm and one R1 round of ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property (a Samsung cellular phone).

The arrested suspects are due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 April 2022.
