The police members in the Western Cape did not leave any stone unturned, when they followed up on information received and arrested suspects in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, moments after committing a serious crime.

Gugulethu police were busy with patrols on Sunday, 17 July 2022 near to Koornhof Street, when they were stopped by a member of the public who claimed that he was pointed with a firearm. The complainant then pointed out the suspect. The police members approached the suspect and searched him. The 24-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile Parow police members were busy with crime prevention duties on Monday, 18 July 2022 near to the corners of Market and Connaught Roads in Parow Valley at around 10:30, when they were stopped by a male person who claimed that he was just robbed of his mobile phone and a sling bag containing valuables.

The victim gave a clear description of the suspects, after which the police members started searching for the suspects. When they spotted the two males who fitted the description, they were apprehended and searched.

The males aged 23 and 31 were both arrested on charges of robbery, possession of presumed stolen property and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to appear in the Bellville and Athlone Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
