A man accused of raping a 23-year-old University of Cape Town (UCT) student is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on a charge of rape.
It’s believed he may be linked to a series of rapes in the Rhodes Memorial area and more charges may be added.
The 35-year-old man was arrested in March, in connection with a spate of rapes and robberies in the Rhodes Memorial area above UCT.
On November 19 last year, a 23-year-old woman was raped at the bottom of Rhodes Memorial and robbed of her personal belongings.
Detectives assigned to the case identified a possible suspect and a warrant for his arrest was obtained.
