Our mission to make the communities in the province drug free societies, produced positive outcomes when members attached to Kraaifontein SAPS and Provincial Intervention Task Team arrested six suspects, between the ages of 25 and 39 on Saturday, 13 July 2019 at 08:30 for possession of illegal substances and ammunition.

The vigilant members acted on information received from the concerned community members that drugs are being sold at a residential property in Klipbok Street, Scottsdene, Kraaifontein. The members continued and searched the premises and they found more than 2000 mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R80 000-00, buried in the backyard of the residential property.

A 29 year old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs. He appeared in the Kuilsriver Magistrates Court on 15 July 2019, on charges of dealing with drugs.

In a separate incident at 14:30 on Sunday, 14 July 2019, the members were busy with routine patrols when they received information from the public that a white Toyota Quantum was transporting firearms and drugs in the area. They spotted the vehicle in Eoan Avenue, Scottsdene and pulled it over.

The vehicle and the occupants were searched, and 50 rounds of ammunition including a bag of tik estimated to be worth R15 000-00 were discovered.

All five suspects between the ages of were arrested for the possession of ammunition and drugs. They are due to appear in the Blue Downs District Court on 16 July 2019.
