A Durbanville woman will make her first court appearance in the Bellville Regional court on 9 March 2023, on a charge of theft.

The 38-year-old suspect allegedly embezzled company funds amounting to R7 million when she worked as a bookkeeper for a technology company in 2015.

The irregular transactions were discovered by an accounting firm during an audit in 2020 and an investigation was launched.

Multiple electronic transfers were made to the suspect’s bank account and that of her now late father.

The suspect handed herself to the Commercial Crime investigator and admitted she committed the crime.

She was arrested and detained at Durbanville police station.
