In the quest of the SAPS to rid local communities of the scourge of drugs and its manifestations, members from Parow visible police with Border police and customs officials busy with an operation on the night of 2 March 2018, in Parow Industria stopped a truck and discovered 19 bags of suspected uncut crystal methamphetamine stashed in two fridges inside truck.

The vehicle which came from Johannesburg was destined for a warehouse in the area.

A 50 year old suspect was arrested and will appear in the Bellville Magistrates court on Monday 5 March 2018, on charges of dealing in drugs. The consignment of crystal methamphetamine weighing about 35kg with an estimated value of R30 million was sent for forensic analysis.

The investigation continues and more arrests could follow.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt General Khombinkosi Jula has commended the vigilance of the members involved. “The confiscation and arrest boost our efforts to tackle both drug users and dealers,” says Lt General Jula.
