The persistence and determination of police officers paid off when they arrested and detained three males in two isolated incidents in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and abalone.

Ravensmead police responded to information on Wednesday, 15 February 2023, and drove to an address in Pinedene Street. Upon arrival they searched the premises.

Their persistence was rewarded when they confiscated mandrax tablets, methamphetamine and a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

They arrested and detained an 18 year old male on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of drugs.

In an unrelated intervention an integrated operation led to the arrest of two suspects in Gansbaai on Friday, 17 February 2023. The team conducted a vehicle check point on the R43 between Gansbaai and Stanford.

They stopped a suspicious minibus taxi and searched the vehicle and the occupants and confiscated 3608 units of abalone with an estimated street value of R1.4 million.

They arrested and detained two males aged 23 and 29 on a charge of possession of abalone without the necessary documentation.

Once charged the suspect are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Bellville and Hermanus Magistrate court’s on the mentioned charges.
