Efforts to eradicate trafficking of drugs along our main entrance and exit routes from and to the Western Cape yet again yielded positive results following the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of R 907 100.00 en route between the Greater Karoo and Cape Town in the early hours this morning, 4 June 2018.

Our Provincial Detectives (OCI), assisted by the Central Karoo K9, pulled over a passenger bus en route to Cape Town near a Central Karoo town earlier today. During this routine inspection thy accosted a suspicious looking passenger and questioned her. They ensued with a search of her luggage and found 18 142 Mandrax tablets with an estimated value of about R907 100, 00 concealed amongst her luggage in two suitcases.

The Western Cape Provincial Police management has commended the members for their dedication and focus to rid our streets from this evil.

The effort to eradicate drug dependency and trafficking in general will continue throughout our province Lt General Jula warned.
