PPE fraud: 3 Senior Cederberg municipality employees arrested

The Western Cape Commercial Crime Investigation Unit subsequent to investigation into allegations of PPE fraud and corruption at the Cederberg Municipality arrested three senior municipal employees and the owner of a private company, the municipality contracted with on 3 December 2021 in the Clanwilliam area.

The arrested suspects are aged between 44 and 66.

They appeared in the Clanwilliam Magistrates Court where the accused’s applied for and were granted bail in the amount of R5000, with strict conditions.

The matter was remanded until 1 March 2022 for the tracing of a further suspect and have the matter transferred to the Commercial Crimes Court in Bellville.
