The swift and effective response from members have led to the arrest of five suspects on Wednesday 23 October 2019, at around 21:25 at the N1 National road, Touws River for possession of unpolished diamonds.

The members received information about a white Volvo truck that was travelling on the N1 with five occupants in possession of diamonds and subsequently called Touws River SAPS to ask for assistance in pulling the truck over. The truck was pulled over on the N1 near a petrol station where members proceeded to search the vehicle.

They initially discovered one diamond under the carpet, however, after a thorough search of the truck, ten more diamonds were found on the diesel tank. The diamonds were discovered to be real after a test was conducted, however, their monetary value is yet to be determined.

Five male suspects, aged between 31 and 48, were arrested for possession of unpolished diamonds and are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday 28 October 2019, at the Touws River Magistrate’s Court.
