Police in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, came under fire from people blocking streets and land grabbing in the area.
One police officer was wounded after which the unruly bunch was dispersed with rubber bullets.
This follows after the Cape Town Council indicated that protest actions have increased by 73% compared with the same period in 2016.
