Warrant Officer Dannie Botha was shot and injured on Sunday 27 October 2019, in Muizenberg. The 51 year old officer and his partner were responding to carjacking incident and spotted the vehicle fitting the description circulated, parked on the beach road.
The two officers approached the vehicle after which one occupant in the vehicle opened fire and shot Warrant Officer Botha, he was hit several times in the upper body.
The Minister of Police General, Bheki Cele will visit the officer who escaped with his life and who is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery.
