Western Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Sindile Mfazi has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of 43 year old Sergeant Thanduxolo Wiseman Stuma who was shot dead in a robbery incident in Delft South in the early hours of 27 November 2019.

Off duty Sgt Stuma was walking home at 00:45 when unknown gunmen in a vehicle pulled up next to him, took his cellphone and fired a shot. He died on the scene. He was stationed at Elsies River SAPS as a detective.

Elsies River Station Commander, Brigadier Sandile Sonjani who visited the family described Sgt Stuma as a quiet, humble and disciplined police official. He said police officials at the station were saddened by the tragic loss.

Sgt Stuma joined the SAPS in January 2006.

Western Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Sindile Mfazi has vowed that the perpetrators of this act will face the full night of the law. He also commended Flying Squad members who arrested two suspects found with Sgt Stuma’s cellphone, 16 other cellphones and items taken from a business robbery in Bellville.

“Our investigations currently are focusing on determining which other serious crimes the suspects are linked to, as we curb violent crimes in this Province”, says Lt General Mfazi.

Details of funeral arrangements will be announced later in the week.
