In a mission to prevent and combat possession of illegal firearms in Manenberg as it threatens the safety and security of the community, members arrested three men aged, 21 and 28 in unrelated incidents during stop and search operations they conducted in various parts of the area.

A 21 year old man was arrested for possession of a 9mm pistol loaded with eight live rounds of ammunition in Thames Avenue.

A second 21 year old man was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with five live rounds of ammunition in Venster Street.

A search warrant was executed at Beatrix Court and resulted in the arrest of a 28 year old man for possession of 34 half mandrax tablets and 15 live 9mm rounds of ammunition.

All three suspects are to appear at the Athlone Magistrate’s Court to face separate charges of possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition as well as illegal possession of drugs respectively.
