Police divers have retrieved the bodies of two children from a dam between Old Faure Road and the N2 highway in Mfuleni on Friday morning, 23 October 2020.

Mfuleni police were alerted on Thursday evening to clothing items that were seen floating in the water. When police divers arrived on the scene visibility was poor for the search to commence. Early on Friday morning the divers resumed the search and retrieved the bodies of the two children who have since been identified by family members as two seven-year-old boys who were reported missing in Khayelitsha a week ago.

Police have opened an inquest docket for investigation.

Linathi Ntshonga and Miyolo Gwinta were reported missing in Khayelitsha a week ago. They were last seen a few kilometres from the dam. Trauma counseling has been arranged for the two families.
