Our endeavours to create a safe environment for the community led to the arrest of two suspects earlier today, 25 June 2018, for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Nyanga.

Members of the Nyanga Provincial Intervention Team spotted a Toyota Avanza under suspicious circumstances in Samora Machel and decided to investigate the matter.

The two occupants made an attempt to flee, but they were arrested. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol without a serial number and six rounds.

The two suspects, aged 32 and 34 and are due to make a court appearance in Athlone once they have been charged.
