Law enforcement efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the Garden Route District led to the arrest of six suspects during midweek operations in Dysselsdorp and Mossel Bay.
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, members of the Garden Route District Crime Combatting Team executed search warrants targeting drug outlets in Dysselsdorp. Authorities searched four premises located in Asla, Belelie Street, Protea Street, and Malva Street. The operation resulted in the seizure of small quantities of tik (crystal meth) and mandrax, ammunition, and suspected stolen property. Five suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were arrested and face charges of drug possession, possession of stolen property, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
In a separate operation the same day, Da Gamaskop police acted on a tip-off and raided a house on Asazani Street in Mossel Bay. Officers confiscated 303 grams of tik, a digital scale, and an undisclosed amount of cash. A 33-year-old woman was arrested and is facing charges of dealing in drugs.
All suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear in the Oudtshoorn and Mossel Bay Magistrates’ Courts once formally charged.
These arrests form part of ongoing crime-combating operations aimed at eradicating substance abuse, which remains a key driver of serious and violent crimes in vulnerable communities.
