
Police have apprehended eight suspects in connection with separate murder incidents reported in the Garden Route District over the past weekend and in a prior unresolved case.
George Stabbing Leads to Arrest
On Saturday, 16 August 2025, at approximately 05:20, Pacaltsdorp police responded to an altercation on Voëlnesvaring Street in New Dawn Park, George. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a 25-year-old man with a fatal stab wound to the chest. Paramedics declared the victim deceased at the scene. Following an investigation, a 26-year-old suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the George Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 18 August 2025.
Woman Arrested in Kranshoek Homicide
In an unrelated incident, Kwanokuthula police arrested a 26-year-old woman on murder charges after responding to a disturbance on Ted Brown Street in Kranshoek, outside Plettenberg Bay. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 August 2025, around 01:30, where a man had collapsed. Officers found him with a stab wound to the chest, and medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The suspect, apprehended nearby, remains in custody and is expected to appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate’s Court later this week.
Six Arrested in Riversdale Cold Case Murder
In a breakthrough for a months-old case, Riversdale police, assisted by George Public Order Police, conducted a tracing operation that led to the arrest of six suspects aged between 19 and 26. The group has been linked to the murder of 30-year-old Lourens Ntozini, whose body was discovered on Varkie Street in Riversdale on 04 April 2025 with multiple injuries. Ntozini was transported to George Provincial Hospital but was later declared dead.
An additional suspect, already in custody for an unrelated matter, will join the six accused during their first court appearance at the Riversdale Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 18 August 2025. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to seven.
Authorities have commended the coordinated efforts of multiple police units in securing these arrests and reiterated their commitment to tackling violent crime in the region. Further investigations are ongoing.
