A 24 year old suspect is expected to appear in court after he was arrested for a case of hijacking. The suspect and accomplice had allegedly hijacked a truck on Monday 14 January 2019, in Lansdowne Road in Philippi.
It is alleged that the complainant and a passenger were standing at the robots when suddenly two suspects appeared and pointed them with a gun. They demanded keys and instructed them to get off the truck. The suspects then drove off with the truck. The suspect was later arrested.
Three other suspects aged 34 and 36 including a 25 year old woman are appearing in Athlone Magistrate Court after they were arrested in possession of stolen vehicles in Browns Farm.
The 24 year old will also appear in Athlone Magistrate Court once charged for hijacking.
