Parliament turning into a war zone

If more than 400 soldiers are needed to protect about 400 members of parliament during the state speech in parliament, it is clearly despised and that parliament can become a war zone.

Eyebrows were raised when it became known that the deployment of so many soldiers is called for this task, and even its constitutionality has been questioned. Apparently, the approval for this acquisition comes from of the supreme commander of the army, Jacob Zuma, in his capacity as president.

The past sessions and other events during parliament were disrupted when the EFF did not allow the president to deliver his speech. Eventually, they were removed from parliament by force.

Although so far this year the EFF is quiet about their plans, it can be expected that they will once again emanate a surprise against Zuma, and it’s apparently, why Zuma wants to protect himself.

Zuma’s action is also strongly reminiscent of dictatorial African leaders who use the army to protect or enhance their power.
